TECHENTIN, Fred 1849-

Fred Techentin, of the firm of Brandt & Techentin, blacksmith and wagon manufacturers, 816 West Second street, was born in Neubuckow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Aug. 22, 1849. His parents were John and Louisa (Unmack) Techentin, natives also of that place. Fred attended school until 1864, when he learned the wagon-maker's trade; in 1871 he emigrated to America, landed in New York, and came at once to Davenport, arriving in November of that year. He worked at his trade until he formed his present partnership. He was married Jan. 8, 1877, to Louisa Bornhoft. She was born in Davenport, and was a daughter of Henry and Eliza (Spanberger) Bornhoft, natives of Germany. Mr. and Mrs. Techentin have four children - Frank and Francis, twins born in March, 1878, Lilly and Henry. Hits: 2387
