There are many ways you may volunteer for the MexicoGenWeb Project. Some more labor intensive opportunities involve taking on the responsibility of a state or a municipality website. If this interests you, please contact us.
Content Contributions
Other volunteer opportunities may be as small as a one-time contribution of information, such as a surname, a query, or a personal narrative. Though small, these contributions are often the very thing that a long lost family member is searching for. They are important and valued.
Translations
We need people to translate our pages into Spanish, and certain documents into English. If you are able and willing to help us with translations, please contact us.
Cemetery Enumerations
If you live in, or are traveling to, Mexico, we would be very grateful for any cemetery enumerations you might be able to do - in part, or in whole. This consists of recording the name and location of, and directions to, a local cemetery, the names and inscriptions on the stones, and/or closeup photos of the stones, and the gates to the cemetery.
Records Transcriptions
If you have access to copyright free Mexican genealogical or historical records at a library or archives and are able to transcribe these, we will add them to a database and publish them online. Please include the name of the source, and the location and date of transcription.
Personal Narratives and Diaries
We accept personal narratives and memoires of family life in Mexico, much like these available at Sharing the Stories, at the Texas State Historical Association. While the broad sweeps of history are recorded, the small, day-to-day ways we live are often lost. It is important to preserve these, as well. Make yourself a part of history and share your stories with us.
