Welcome to the
Hunter Valley GenWeb
|
The Hunter Valley lies about 160 kilometres north of Sydney; population circa 700,000, most of whom live in the Newcastle metropolitan area.
It is the valley of the Hunter River, one of the major eastwards-flowing rivers of South-Eastern Australia.
There are eleven main council regions within the Hunter Valley - Cessnock, Dungog, Gloucester, Great Lakes, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Muswellbrook, Newcastle, Port Stephens, Singleton and Upper Hunter.
Local areas are grouped
for convenience under a single regional Hunter Valley GenWeb.
