Yapahuwa

Historians compare Yapahuwa to the rock fortress Sigiriya, although this was built on a smaller scale. Yapahuwa was Sri Lanka’s seat of governance and home of the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha once.It is located in the Pahalavisideka korale, wanni; Hattpattu province. During early excavations several Chinese ceramics were found.Yapahuwa was built in the 13th century during the reign of King Buvenekabahu.
