1 Captain John Baptist Rabot + Elizabeth Jacobs m:1801 (#1386)

John Rabot was of the French Naval Reserve. Master& Proprietor of Brig.”Catherina” which docked in Ceylon. He and his family then settled down in the island. He is supposed to have drowned off the shores of Trincomalee in 1815.

Recognition Notes are recorded in the Public Record Office, London.

John Rabot Esqr of Messers.Wilson,Ritchie and Co of Ceylon,was the son of Captain John Rabot and Elizabeth Jacobs. In the26th July 1848 riots, he together with Frank Schubert quelled the riots and handed the leader over to the then Suptd of Police W.Macartney which gave him noteworthy recognition.Notes are recorded in the Public Record Office, London.
