Hello!
My mum is a Potger and one of 6 children. Her sister and mum live near London UK, we live in France, 1 brother in Germany, 2 sisters in Australia and last brother in Sri Lanka. This is where they are all from. They are 'Dutch Burghers', descendants of the Dutch Colonisers to Sri Lanka. Where are you from?

I finally got your messages: thank you.
Ok so let's find out more about each other to see if we are somehow related :) My Potger family name is on my mother's side. They were Dutch and arrived in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) in 18th Century. Their descendants were called Dutch burghers on the island and they still live there today. However, many of my family have emigrated to Australia (Melbourne), UK (London), France (Paris - us), and Germany (Kaiserslautern). Please write and explain where you are all from.

If your part of the Potger Family we have to be related, there are so few of us about, ha,ha. Its really good you got the message for a moment i did not think you would pick it up as your first hit was so long ago I thought you might not check again. Anyway this is all a bit new to me so please bear with me. I am trying to spend so time with this site and would like to build it up with the help of the Family around the world. Right, Derek is a Friend of my partner and has nothing to do with the Potger's he just left the first message as he enjoys the Genealogy thing and good on him for getting to ball rolling. Chris haven't had a reply yet so don't know his background yet. Me well my lot it seems go back to, cut and past this bit: (see above)

I think someone must have known someone out there, ha, ha.

I think the Spellings of the Name may not be right as i have found a site which say the same but spells EVERHARD as EVERARD, anyway don't know if i would want to be called that with it's English connotation.

Anyway, have set up or trying to set up a home page here and tree have uploaded two pictures one with me and my dad, please take a look it would be good if you could dig out any old pics you might have of family. Do you know my cousin, Rosemary Thatcher? She went over to see someone in France a few months back she lives in America and knows just about where we all are her mum is in the photo (Marjorie) my dad is the Baby, the Photo is one i have restored and was taken in Singapore. Hello,

my name is Linda Emmi Potger.
I live in The Netherlands.
The name of my father is Marcel Charles Potger.
His dad is called Charles Marcel Potger and he came with his father to The Netherlands when Ceylon decided to become a independent state with the name Sri Lanka.

We are looking for any Potgers who can be related to us.

I am trying to find out more about the exact names of the ancestors of my granddad, the dates off when they were all born and when/where they all lived and come from.

Hi everyone,

My name is Simon Potger, i live in Adelaide, South Australia. I have 2 brothers, Michael and Ryan, and 1 sister, Julie-Anne. My dad is Robert Kimberley Potger. He has 1 sister, Daphne and 1 brother, Roger. Their father, who passed away this year was Hector Vernon Potger. i know my grandfather Hector, had 1 brother, Stanley Treherne Potger, but i think he has more, i'm not sure...

Anyway, this is a start, i will ask my family for more information at Christmas, and hopefully we can all get a better idea of how we are related!
