Lt Henry Agar is buried in the Dutch Cemetery in Galle, Ceylon. Originally from County Kerry, Ireland, he served in the 90th Light Infantry - Ceylon Rifles Regiment. He married Fanny Chamberlain. Their daughter Fanny Arabella died, aged 2, in 1843. I believe his ancestors were from Gloucestershire and settled in Ireland during Cromwell's time.
Thanks for details of his parents. Can you help me "connect" him to the
"Ceylon" Agars (brothers Walter James Shelton Agar, Charles
Shelon Agar and John Shelton Agar) who were
Tea Planters in Ceylon? From your information, I know that they are
descended from Walter Eager.
Does Lt Henry Agar "connect" to them? I am also trying to "connect" this
family of Agars to the Normanton Agars - descended from Charles Agar of
York (d 1696). How far back does your research go into the origins of
the 3 Tea Planter siblings' ancestors? Your help will be very much
appreciated.
