Galle Burgher Tennis buffs, 1925, from Norah Roberts’ book

Shows Charles de Vos’ father, Galle attorney Dick de Vos, standing at back, 5th in from left. Prof. Lyn Ludowyk, later eminent in Academia, is standing immediately to the left of Dick de Vos in the picture. In his memoirs of childhood in Galle Fort, Ludowyk mentions that Dick de Vos was a fine tenor. Norah Roberts mentions that Dick de Vos later committed suicide by drinking poisoned arrack!
