Rampart walk along the west side of the old Dutch Fort, looking south from Star bastion towards Aeolus Bastion where a modern lighthouse (just out of sight) wich replaced a much older British colonial lighthouse near the Aeolus Bastion came down in the early 1930’s, sadly, costing the life of the lighthouse keeper who plunged from the top into the sea.

View south from Moon Bastion, looking into the heart of the old Dutch Fort. The New Oriental Hotel (NOH) which was used in 1684 as a Dutch officers’ quarters is at extreme left; the gabled 18th cent. Dutch Reformed Church (DRC) is next, then the much more recent (later 19th century) All Saints’ Anglican Church, and then the modern (early 1930’s) Lighthouse, and finally the top of the early 20th century Mosque just visible to the right of it.
