The Golden Who's Who of the Lebanese Emigrants in the World
Introduction

The Golden Who's Who of the Lebanese Emigrants in the World is the result of fourteen years of international travel and research by the author. He visited and talked with most of the distinguished personalities listed in this book, listening to the history of their families' emigrations out of Lebanon, and their success in their host countries.

He decided to record the stories of these citizens, who after decades of their leaving their motherland, still had emotional, intellectual, and other ties to this tiny country on the eastern Mediterranean.

The author started his travel in 1972, and visited emigrants in North, Central, and South Americas, as well as Australia, and Africa.

The 1975 civil war lent a tragic blow to the years of efforts spent by the author travelling to the most remote areas of the world, collecting the names, accomplishments, and family histories of these diligent emigrants. These collections were noted on many notebooks.

In 1977, the majority of these notes were destroyed by shellfire. The author's hometown was devastated by the ruthlessness of a blind civil war that pitted citizen against citizen. Luckily, a good part of these notes were saved from fire since they were kept in the relative safety of the home of the author's brother, the late lawyer Joseph Khoury Dib.

In putting the pieces of notes together, the author was still determined to publish this document. He realized that many of the emigrants he met, and recorded the history of, may be upset to find out that their names and family histories did not make it to this book.

Any omission was definitely not deliberate, and any person who was interviewed for this book, and / or contributed to its making, is invited to write to the author's son Mr. Raymond Dib, for inclusion in subsequent editions. There will be, of course, no fee required from any person who certifies that a fee was already paid in the past. This offer will be limited to the first inclusion.

It is also regrettably realized that, given the length of time it took from record collection, to inclusion in this book, many addresses and phone numbers will have changed, or may no longer be valid. Any corrections will be greatly appreciated, and will be included free of charge.

In publishing phone numbers, and addresses of the Lebanese emigrants in the world, the author assumed no objections from concerned parties. Such inclusions were meant to add depth, as well as breadth to this book. Such information in not meant to be used for solicitation, or in any other unauthorized way. It is rather meant to facilitate communications between Lebanese people from the Four Corners of the world.

Any citizen of Lebanese origin, in any country outside Lebanon, is invited to submit his / her autobiography for inclusion this book. Please use the enclosed nomination form in this book. Also included, is a correction form for updating information already listed in this book.

The author states that he is not associated with any official government body of the Lebanese government. His effort was undertaken solely as a private effort, for the benefit of the Lebanese people, and people of Lebanese origin, regardless of religion, sect, creed, origin, or gender.
