I am researching the LAUER name in Trier. I have very few details. I am researching Nicholas (Nicolaus) LAUER and child Peter LAUER. Peter was born in Trier 4 Oct 1930. I don't know the name of his mother but I am looking into the possibility of it being Annae WEBER. If Annae is the mother of Peter siblings would be Nicolai and Joannes. Peter and his father emigrated in 1835 and settled in WI.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have added this page to my favorite pages list, as I have tracked my maiden name of HANDGEN to Saarland. We are the only HANDGENS in the US. We have an extremely difficult time breaking past 1880 in Adrian, Michigan. I am hoping there are some HANDGENS in Saarland who might be beginning Their gen research. I understand that it is unlikely that only one HANDGEN emigrated to US, but I am beginning to think that that is just what happened. This would mean the other HANDGENS in Germany are REALLY related.
Hope I connect w/one of them through this route. Cheers, Kim in Oregon

My ZOEHLER ancestors came from three villages in the north-central region of Saarland; Lockweiler, Nuhweiler and Mettnich. The last is now part of Primstal. to better understand my families history, I am interested in gaining more information about this region including:

The current population of Lockweiler, Nuhweiler and Primstal sources of pictures and or histories of the area.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I am new to this list after just learning that the village of Elversberg is not near Metz in Lorraine but in Saarland, Germany!
My grandfather, Franz WIDERA b 1897 was the youngest of 10 children born to Joseph WIDERA b 1849 and Marie GLESSNER b 1856. Marie's mother was Marie MILLER b 1813.
My grandmother, Margaret ZEIGER b 1897, was the youngest of 7 children born to Jacob ZEIGER and Helene GUNDER.
The ZEIGERS and WIDERAS supposedly came from Elversberg. Right now, I am most curious about sons of Franz and Marie, Andrew b 1876, Johan b 1878, Jacob b 1883, Peter b 1887, George b 1890, and Aloisius b 1889.
If anyone has information, drop me a line. Thank you.
